Childrens Birthday Parties for Christmas
When a child’s birthday falls during the Christmas season, sometimes the child feels sidelined by all the excitement and festivities of Christmas. They feel that Christmas has taken away all the fun and ‘thunder’ from them. But it should not be the case. In fact, the child should feel privileged that his or her birthday falls at a special time of the year and that in itself should make him or her very special indeed!
Should you have a Christmas themed birthday party for your child, remember to take the regular Christmas decorations out and change them so that emphasis is put into the birthday decorations instead. You can have a Christmas tree (so that the Xmas feeling is still there) but have the ornaments all about them. Let the child decide what are their favorite things to put on the tree. Get them involved so that they know the child and the child alone is the center of attention. Get them to realize that though it is Christmas, it is also their birthday and that is something important to the family.
An exotic idea, albeit unusual, is to have a Christmas themed birthday party when it is not anywhere near to Christmas. This is best in the heat of summer and far removed from Christmas. Your child will enjoy a birthday party with such a different, unexpected theme. Drag out your Christmas tree into the yard. Decorate with lights. You can request that all the children come dressed as little elves, wear stocking caps and bells on their shoes. Another idea is to have all the gifts wrapped up in Christmas paper and to eat off Christmas plates. A wise move will be to hit the stores right after Christmas and shop for your summer time Christmas party! What a bargain you’ll get! You can have lots of fun singing Christmas songs in the middle of summer! Maybe you can even use Christmas tunes and add your own lyrics for this birthday occasion. Eating things like snow cones and Christmas cookies add to the fun.
Holding a Christmas themed birthday party at any other time of the year can become a tradition of sorts in the family. Your child will cherish that memory for the rest of their lives because incorporating Christmas into their birthday is a fun thing to do. If you hold your party in spring and don’t want to lug out all your Christmas paraphernalia that your have just put away, then encourage your kids to be creative and make their own decorations. The point of having a Christmas themed birthday party should be to have a good time while doing something that is fun and more importantly something to let them remember and talk about for rest of their lives.
